Anastasia Gorbenko set a wonderful Israeli record tonight (between Friday and Saturday) and won the silver medal at the US Open in North Carolina this weekend. The Israeli swimmer set a time of 4:37.90 minutes in the 400-meter mixed individual medley, offsetting almost three seconds off the record and swimming faster than the Olympic criteria.

Gorbenko improved her record set six months ago in Barcelona at the Mara Nostrum (4:40.76) and secured her second ticket to Paris, after the half-distance criterion. Canada's Summer McIntosh won the gold medal in that event with a time of 4:29.96.

In the 200-meter mixed individual medley, Gorbenko finished fourth and was a tenth of a second away from improving her Israeli record. Gorbenko swam with a time of 2:09.38 seconds and was 28 hundredths of a mile away from the bronze medal, while Leah Polonsky finished 11th with 2:13.43.

In the men's parallel swim, Ron Polonsky finished fifth with a time of 1:59.32. Eitan Ben Shitrit finished tenth with a time of 2:01.58. Denis Loktev finished sixth in the 200-meter freestyle final with a time of 1:47.94. Eitan Ben Shitrit finished 13th (1:48.80) and Daniel Namir 14th (1:49.67).

Meron Heruti finished sixth in the 50-meter freestyle final with a time of 22.14 seconds. Mikhail Lajtrowski finished eighth in the 100-meter backstroke final with 55.20 seconds, and David Graczyk finished 17th in the same swim with 55.74 seconds.

In the 100-meter butterfly, Tomer Frenkel finished in tenth place (52.27 seconds) and Gal Cohen Gromi in 12th place (52.81). Daria Golubetti finished 14th in the 200-meter freestyle with 2:00.62 minutes and Ayala Spitz finished one place behind her with 2:00.73.
